homeworks

I am a multimedia artist living on Lenape land in Brooklyn, New York. My work draws on notions of cuteness, queer kinship, fantasy, and ecological systems. Compositions swim in fluid distortions, where focus, light, and hue oscillate inwards and outwards. Forms spiral, blur, and melt into one another… emulating yearning, softness, and sometimes horror – forests filled with epiphytes and bubble gum stuck in your hair.

My process is characterized by careful enraptured scanning. It is a daily practice to search, capture, and archive moments on my phone camera – interesting formations of light and shadow, color combinations, and the like. Over time, this has accumulated into an inventory of observations that I habitually return to.

When working on a project, I tend to immerse myself completely for prolonged periods marked by close looking and continual interrogation of the work. I’m interested in the magic of intuition and devotion that arises in the process. Often pieces are given away as gifts, lost, or destroyed.
